The gematrikon is a kind of kabalistic dictionary which gives the numerical value
of Hebrew words. The original cover is smooth silver with embossed Hebrew
letters and numbers engraved in different sizes.
Working with oil paint on this metallic background, painting over the embossed
areas and then scraping away some of the paint, allows the surface to be reflected in an unusual way. The different letters and designs bring texture as well as a certain energetic quality in a play between what is revealed and what is hidden.
