Yoram RaananHow we ensure that all of the copies of our originals are identical. A print is a copy of an original painting produced using any mechanical method which ensures that all of the copies will be identical. Examples of fine art printing methods used by Yoram Raanan are : wood block prints, linocuts, silk-screens also (serigraphs), lithographs, etchings, giclée (digital prints).

limited editions

Yoram RaananYoram Raanan's innovative art maintains a high market value, as the amount of prints in each edition are kept low. Fine art prints of original Yoram Raanan art are produced in a limited edition which means that we limit the final number of prints to a predetermined amount, usually between 100-250. The amount of prints in the edition is one of the factors that affects the market value - a smaller edition size makes each print rarer and therefore more valuable.

signed prints

Signed PrintEach print is individually hand-signed by Yoram Raanan. Each print is individually hand-signed by Yoram Raanan. If the print is on paper, the artist will usually sign with pencil in the white space below the printed area. If on canvas, the artist may sign on the printed area with paint.

numbered prints

Numbered PrintsWhy we number each print. Each print of Yoram Raanan's original art is numbered (usually in the space below the printed area). The number 111/250, for example, means print number 111 from an edition of 250 prints. In the case of a print on canvas, since the white space below the printed area will be covered by the frame, the print number will appear on the certificate of authenticity and in some cases on the reverse side of the canvas.

artist's proofs

Artist ProofYoram Raanan's does scores of preliminary "test" prints to ensure that the print that you receive is of top quality. A small number of Artist's Proofs may be printed in addition to the total number of prints in the edition (usually not more than 20, and never more than 10 of the final edition). These are preliminary "test" prints, which are not necessarily identical to the rest of the prints. The letters A/P will be written in place of the print number.

giclée

Yoram RaananYoram Raanan's fine art prints created with digital ink-jet printers. French for "sprayed ink." A sophisticated printmaking process, today typically produced on an IRIS ink-jet printer, capable of producing millions of colors using continuous-tone technology. Also a print resulting from this process, also called an Iris print. Giclées are often made from photographic images of paintings in order to produce high quality, permanent reproductions of them. The extra-fine image resolution possible in this printing process permits retention of a high degree of fine detail from the original image, rendering deeply saturated colors having a broad range of tonal values. A gicl#233;e should be printed either on a fine fabric or archival quality white paper using bio-degradable water-soluble inks. After the process of printing it, a giclée specialist should examine the painting with special materials to make any necessary corrections, and apply a final, thin, transparent coating for maximum permanence. (pronounced gee-clay')

certificate of authenticity

Yoram RaananEach print of Yoram Raanan's original art is accompanied by a certificate guaranteeing it's authenticity. A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each print of Yoram Raanan's original art. The certificate states all of details that are relevant to the edition. The same original picture may sometimes be produced in two or more limited editions, of differing sizes or mediums. For example, a picture may be produced as an edition of 200 in size 18 x 24, printed on paper, and also as an edition of 150 in size 24 x 32 printed on canvas. The size of both editions are clearly stated in the certificate of authenticity of each.
