Maamad Har Sinai Collage1996 – 2003“(Facing Mt. Sinai)..All the people saw the sounds, the flames, the blast of the ram's horn, and the mountain smoking..The people trembled when they saw it, keeping their distance..'Do not be afraid,' replied Moses to the people. 'God only came to raise you up. His fear will then be on your faces, and you will not sin..”Exodus 20:15–18The People of Israel encamped at the foot of Mt. Sinai from the third month after the Exodus until the 20th of the second month of the second year (Ex. 19:1–Num. 10:11). The people prepared themselves for three days for the theophany, and Moses ascended the mountain. On the third day God descended upon the mountain and uttered the Ten Commandments (Ex. 20; Deut. 5). Mt. Sinai was then enveloped in a cloud for six days, while fire burnt on its summit. On the seventh day Moses ascended the mountain to receive the Tablets of the Law, remaining there for 40 days and nights.According to Biblical insight, historic destiny is the secret correlation inhering in the current moment. When we are aware of the origin and goal, there is no meaningless drift; we are carried along by a meaning we could never think up for ourselves, a meaning we are meant to live, not formulate. And that living takes place in the awful and splendid moment of decision. And yet your moment is not yours, but rather the moment of your encountering. The revelation at Sinai is not the midpoint of history itself, but the perceiving of it, and such perception is possible at any time.Martin BuberPrintsThis painting is available as a high quality hand-signed print in the following dimensions SMALL $90 25 x 35 centimeters 9.84 x 13.78 inches MEDIUM $220 35 x 50 centimeters 13.78 x 19.69 inches LARGE $320 50 x 70 centimeters 19.69 x 27.56 inches EXTRA LARGE $480 60 x 80 centimeters 23.62 x 31.5 inches OVERSIZE $960 80 x 120 centimeters 31.5 x 47.24 inches Shipping and Handling $35 |
